Dear girls,
I just loved your Bubbleshare presentation! It gave me a full perspective of Greena and it was a great surprise to hear you and see some of your photos. Greena seems to be an exciting town. There are certainly many options, from beaches to forests! I must confess that I’m crazy about the beach. It gives me good vibes, and that’s why I’m happier than ever here in Key West. I am a fortunate woman living by the sea. So, in the morning, when I wake up the sun is just rising over the Gulf of Mexico. It is uplifting and I start my day cheerfully.
Thanks for taking your time to prepare this lovely presentation. I was very touched by it. I know how much effort you need to put to prepare an online slide show. I’m sure you learned a lot with this whole experience. How about if we kept in touch and kept practicing English, learning about each other and our cultures? Maybe we could go by topics…How about starting with a bit about us? I’d love to know more about you, your family, what you do, what you like doing in your free time…
If you start this topic, I promise to tell more about me and prepare a Bubbleshare presentation for you!!! How about that?
I’m anxiously waiting for your replies even knowing you’re busy women!
Hoping to hear from you very soon.
Thanks for the wonderful surprise!
Beijos,
Carla

Hi Carla. I am Birthe. Actually the oldest of the us. 59 years and 60 in only half a year. Then I will retire. Not that I don’t want to work, but I have so much else I want to do that I cannot find time for when working.
First of all I love to spend time with my lovely grandchild, Magnus, who is 2 years of age. I really love playing with him. Hopping, dancing, splashing with water, jumping – you name it and we do it.
Then I am keen on drawing and painting. But I need time for it. It does’nt work when you have a go once in a while. You have to practice and be in training if you’ll make it work out well.
In my spare time I am occupied very much with nature. I live in a lovely forest and very near to the coast. In our region we have a very beautiful coastline to open sea: North Sea/Kattegat. We have much forest in our region, but mostly agricultural land.
I am a member of an ngo-organisation; Danish Society for Nature Conservation; and it takes very much of my spare time. We have to deal with many environmental problems: Waiste (garbage) – do you know that a gold finger ring leaves 1 ton of garbage in the world before you can buy it? Loss of nature areas as moors, heaths and grazing land because its non-profitable to take care and the areas gets owergrown with other plants. Loss of our cultural landscape because the farmers grows bigger and bigger and wants to place their pens on every hillside. The greenhouse effect that threats us all.
I really do want to fight to secure that my lovely grandson can grow up and raise his children in a balanced World.
Dayly I am learning grown-ups to handle the MS Office Pack. Mostly seniors and I also help people without a job organising how to get a job.
Well this is all for now from me. Hope to hear more from you soon.
My best regards
Birthe

Birthe,
This is so interesting! Knowing more about you and your life in Denmark makes me much closer to you. I think you are totally right about preserving nature, and here, in the US, I see much of it being destroyed by the construction industry big bucks. In Key West, many resorts are built, many reefs have been destroyed, energy is not saved. It is a bit shocking for me. This is the country of disposable stuff, so the waste problem you mentioned, must be a huge one here!
You know, my mom is in Brazil and my kids, 4 and 6 year-old boys, are her only grandkids. Can you imagine how much she misses them? She says it’s great to have kids, even better to have grandkids because when they are tired, crying, dirty, you have a mother to hand them back to take care of them! Does Magnus stay much time with you? Does he sleep at you house? What is he like? What are his favorite toys?
Since Eduardo was a baby he would sleep at the grandparents’ house. Caio, on the other hand, is more reserved and not really liked to sleep at his grandparents’ house. He’s mommy’s darling. Only after he was older he would spend the night over, but only if Eduardo was with him. It’s such an experience to see those two little ones so different from each other. And I love that!
My mom is also retired, but never stopped working. In fact, she works as crazy! So I’m sure when you retire, you’ll have lots of things to do with your time. Just look at me…I’m here in Key West, I’m not working, but life is totally hectic and there should be more time on the day so that I’d be able to do everything I was supposed to!
Hoping to hear more from you.
Carla
